Parent Volunteer Requirements

2007-2008 Season

Dear Parents,

CRYHA and the Delano Area Sports Arena (DASA) are both non-profit volunteer run organizations.  The success of both organizations is critical to provide viable youth hockey programs in Delano & Rockford and the school districts.  Neither can function without your volunteer help!

Volunteer Hour Requirements

All Squirt, Peewee, and Bantam families are required to volunteer a minimum of 10 hours to the association.  Mite family volunteer requirements are 5 hours per season.  Families with 2 or more players have a maximum requirement of 15 hours.  All volunteer hours are to be completed by the summer of 2008

In order to ensure all families participate in the volunteer program, a deposit check of $50 (Mite) or $100 (Squirt and above) or $150 (for families with multiple players) will be required from all families at time of registration, including board members, committee members, coaches, etc.  Deposit checks will not be cashed prior to the end of the season, unless a family elects to make a cash contribution in lieu of volunteer hours. At the end of the season, families not meeting the minimum hours, will be assessed a fee of $10 per hour for each hour missed.

The following is a partial list of volunteer activities which will be credited towards meeting volunteer requirements: coaching, team manager, working at home tournaments, participating on committees, assisting with fundraising events, board members, cleaning the arena or arena maintenance, and many other jobs required to make the association function.

Running the clock, announcing or monitoring a penalty box (minor officials) at home league games or scrimmages will not count towards volunteer hours.  Additionally, working in the concession stand during your team's dedicated weekly time will not count towards volunteer hours.

Deposit checks will be returned after the end of the season if volunteer hour requirements are met.  At the conclusion of the season and spring cleaning, checks will be cashed from any families' not meeting volunteer requirements.  Refunds will be issued for partial volunteer hours at $10 per hour.

Volunteer deposits are required prior to your child participating in the 2007/2008 season.  There will be no exceptions made to this policy.

Concession Stand Volunteer Requirements

You will see a continuation of the process to staff the majority of concession stand hours with parent volunteers, ensuring the stand is open when needed.  All proceeds from the concession will go to arena upkeep and improvements.

Each team is assigned a time slot each week, which must be staffed by two adult volunteers.  It will be the responsibility of each team to assign volunteers.  The team manager or specified designee will be responsible to ensure the concession stand is staffed with volunteers.  With prior notice, the team can elect to pay arena concession workers instead of staffing with volunteers.  The team will be billed for any assigned hours in which arena employees are being used.  If a team does not provide volunteers or arrange for employees to staff the concession stand, the team will be subject to further penalty, including the loss of ice time.  This time does not count towards individual volunteer hour requirements.

Please feel free to contact myself or any other board member with questions or concerns.

Thank you and make it a great season!

CRYHA President
